BAY AREA CASTING NEWS
ATTENDS SAN FRANCISCO FILM ART FOUNDTION'S

ACTOR/DIRECTOR MIXER:
SEPTEMBER 12, 2003

SAN FRANCISCO -

The consensus is...Let's do it again! One colleague summed up with, "The event filled a need. People want to get together and just hang out." Several hundred folks from the Bay Area film community showed up to revel in success and create contacts for the future. Film professionals who hadn't seen each other since a wrap party 6 months ago we're delighted just to come and relax and get-reconnected! The beat on the street is that FAF will continue to announce Friday night networking socials for actors and directors so we can all continue to hook up. The snacks and open bar was the perfect ending to a long week, which included our national day of mourning. We seemed to all need a Friday night happy hour blow out. Kicked my weekend off to a great start.  ( I didn't like watching the Giants loose on Saturday, but hey...I got a free ticket stub from an unhappy fan leaving early...and it was still a great day at the ballpark. I saw 3 homeruns in the bottom of the 8th...three..and one was Barry out to the water.. Yea...hot...but wow what a view....and then again they pulled it out on Sunday. And we're something like 12 games ahead in our division? I'm telling you...you will see amazing baseball...amazing...So, How about your weekend? Film party to baseball..not bad. Back to the party...)

Theatre Bay Area was represented Friday night by Dale Albright. Karen Lipney represented Screen Actors Guild, also on hand. SAG representatives spoke about membership. Bay Area Casting News CEO, Hester Schell spoke about current production in the independent scene. Subscribers were able to renew, and we welcomed many new actors to the online service. (Thank you!!) Frank Crosby from College of Marin announced the student film projects he's got going up there. BUST-A-SHALOM director, Ashley Senter, collected headshots for this feature (see the audition pages for details)which is due to go into production in January 2004.

We are lucky to have Film Arts Foundation, so please continue to support them. At least read Release Print every month. Actors, it's just as important as getting all the way through Theatre Bay Area's Callboard magazine.Thank you FAF for taking the initiative to get this going. It does fill a need and it felt good to see so many friends. Photo credits are below.
